Greetings and a big welcome to all those visiting my page. First I’d like to start out by introducing myself, my name is Alisha Khan .
I'm running to become a Board of Education member here in South Brunswick . I have enjoyed growing up here in South Brunswick and I am proud to be a resident of this peaceful community. I have fond memories of special times and a fantastic group of teachers. Just to name a few of my favorites: Ms Pelegríno, Mr. Ferraris and Mr.Niemis... With that said, growing up attending South Brunswick schools, I know firsthand some of the issues that plague our students, whether it be a lack of resources for those with special needs or counseling on mental health.
I also understand The issues one may have faced in our schools decades ago are not the same as those I faced a few years ago, which will be different for those attending now.
As such, I want to be their liaison and give them an outlet to air their grievances with the school system. I also want to ensure that they and the faculty get a seat at the discussion table for these issues, which could mean making a committee that enables a direct partnership, connection between the student councils, faculty and the Board itself.
My background includes serving on the planning Board, managing Covid testing sites in Middlesex County, and Construction Management experience company in New Jersey. If given the opportunity I would hope to use the skills and experiences garnered to help improve our schools, whether in facilities, transportation or the negotiations committees, to ensure our students get the best of the best.
Its important for me to give back to the community that raised me by working to ensure that our students get an Education that anticipates a promising future.
